Nether United's intramural program provides our youngest players a fun introduction to the game. The children have the opportunity to learn new skills, play age-appropriate games and experience being part of a team.
The players are organized into age-appropriate divisions and lead by volunteer coaches, who not only help your child learn the fundamentals, but also encourage them to develop sportsmanship and make new friends. The season will consist of weekly practices (either Mondays or Wednesdays) that last bewteen 45 minutes and an hour, depending on the age of the player, and a game each weekend (typically Saturday mornings). In addition, the player will have access to several clinics during the season, lead by our senior staff coaches. Our staff coaches work with our travel teams and these clinics give a great insight as to what that program looks like once the players get older.
Nether United have a long, proud history of providing the local area's children with access to the USA's #1 youth sport and the intramrual program is where it all starts. Many professional players, top college players and state and regional winning teams have all come through our program, and is a major reason for Strath Haven producing so many state champions. More than that, it has fostered a love of the game for so many local area children who play throughout their high school years and beyond.
Given the uncertainty in all things created by Covid-19, we are not opening up the registrations until late August. There will be a few weeks of open registration with the program starting Monday 9/14 and running for 8 weeks. There will be some flexibility needed if the weather is uncooperative and sessions will start earlier once we lose significant daylight. The game schedule for Columbus Day weekend will be adjusted so the games are played during the week.
