Welcome to the Nether United Academy. Nether’s Academy has undergone some improvements in an attempt to provide 5-8 year old players the tools required to be a travel soccer player at Nether United The Academy will consist of three 6-week training sessions throughout the 2011-2012 season.
Nether Academy consists of two age groups for each gender – one, the U8 Academy which prepares players for the Nether United U9 travel try-outs in Spring 2012. And two, the U7 Academy which is for first year Academy players to learn more technical training on top of their intramural season. The size of the age groups will depend on the number of players that register but we will max it out at 24 participants per age group per gender. Example up to 24 U7 Boys can participate.
Both will consist of one fall session, one winter sessions and one spring session. Training will be provided by the Nether United Technical Committee approved professional youth coaches and supported by additional professional Nether United licensed coaches.
Age groups - All U7 (Mini) & U8 (Novice) boys and girls players are invited to take part in the Nether Academy. The U8 Academy is open to players born between August 2003 & July 2004. The U7 age group is for children born August 2004 through July 2005.
The Academy’s training curriculum is designed to improve:
· Players technical ability including, ball control, short & long passing, dribbling, finishing
· Players ability to understand basic tactical play such as basic combination play
· Players awareness of space during game situations
· Players awareness of teammates & apposition during games
· Player’s decision making, when to pass, when to dribble
· The sessions will focus on individual balls skills and will end each night with a scrimmage.
Sessions will be held on one weekday evening per week starting Sept 12th through Nov 1st and will take place at local Wallingford fields.
Registration fee is $55 now through Dec 25th. After that date, a $10 late fee will be added.
The U8 Academy groups will be entered into select indoor & outdoor festivals and games against other nearby soccer teams (West Chester) during the Fall & Spring so we can evaluate the players during lightly competitive games.
