Nether News
Nether United Joins - Directors Development Program

Mission Statement: The Directors Development Program (DDP) will provide a player-centered Developmental program that focuses on creating a nurturing, educational soccer environment.

Founding Clubs: Nether United, Rage SC, Spirit United SC, West Chester United, West-Mont United & YMS

Objectives

·       Provide appropriate competition

·       Provide appropriate training to game ratio

·       Encourage creative freedom in training & in games

·       Create free player movement within clubs

·       Reduce fear of failure by eliminating the pressure of winning games with more emphasis  on individual player development

·       Eliminate  labeling players at such a young age as all players will be registered with US Club  & will benefit from the club pass system that enables us to have a larger player pool thus enhancing the development process

·       Appropriate travel to play time ratio

Structure

·       Clubs will participate in four festivals in the fall & three to four festivals in the spring

·       Game formats will include but not limited to 8 v 8, 5 v 5, free-play & ability based games

·       Set dates for friendly games which clubs can choose to utilize or not

·       Emphasis on players making decisions on the field by coaches limiting their coaching points to natural stoppages & ensuring the players learn the game as they play

·       Emphasis on keeping the games flowing by limiting number of time substitutions are made

·      Emphasis on setting technical goals to measure success, no scores/standings  in any DDP event

Lastly, we’d like to remind you of the Nether Academy. This Fall, the Nether United Academy Program will begin in mid-September & run through late Oct. providing Intramural players additional weekly training sessions at Nether’s fields. This program now allows 6-9 year olds to see what the excitement is all about when learning soccer’s technical skills in a fun & challenging environment.

Professional youth coaches & Nether’s own licensed volunteer coaches will provide the training and fun for these young players as they experience a more advanced, technical training and games in preparation for their eventual playing of higher level or travel soccer. The Academy will provide for age-specific sessions for the youngest through the more seasoned players. Details will be sent to all registered intramural players in early September. If you have questions please contact John Lenart, Nether Intramural VP at johnlenart2003@yahoo.com.
